Complete step-by-step guide for installing, updating, and troubleshooting MC Command Center on Windows and macOS.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
The Sims 4 installed and updated to the latest version
Windows or macOS — MCCC does not work on consoles (PlayStation/Xbox)
A file extraction tool — built into both Windows and macOS
At least MCCC v2026.2.0 for the latest game patch (PC: 1.122.218.1030 / Mac: 1.122.218.1230)
Legacy Edition: If you're on The Sims 4 Legacy Edition (32-bit), the last compatible version is MCCC 6.6.0. The current version only works with the 64-bit edition.
1.
Enable Mods in Game Settings
The Sims 4 has mods disabled by default. You need to enable them:
Open The Sims 4
Click the three dots menu (top right) > Game Options
Go to the Other tab
Check "Enable Custom Content and Mods"
Check "Script Mods Allowed" — this is critical for MCCC
Click Apply Changes
Important: Both checkboxes must be enabled. MCCC uses script files (.ts4script) which require the "Script Mods Allowed" option specifically. The game may reset these settings after major patches — always re-check after updates.
2.
Locate Your Mods Folder
Find the Mods folder on your computer:
Windows:
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods
macOS:
~/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods
Quick Access: On Windows, press Win+R, type %userprofile%\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods and press Enter.
3.
Create the MCCC Subfolder
Inside your Mods folder, create a new folder called MCCC.
Critical: The MCCC folder must be only one level deep inside Mods. Paths like Mods/Script Mods/MCCC/ or Mods/Mods/MCCC/ will NOT work. Script mods can only be one subfolder deep.
4.
Download & Extract MCCC
Download the latest version from an official source:
Move all .ts4script and .package files into your Mods/MCCC folder
Do not skip extraction! Placing the ZIP file directly in the Mods folder will not work. You must extract/unzip the files first. Each module comes as a separate ZIP file — extract them all.
5.
Restart The Sims 4
Fully close The Sims 4 and relaunch it. Do not just return to the main menu — completely exit the game and start it fresh. The game loads mods during startup, so a full restart is required for new mods to take effect.
6.
Verify Installation
Load any save file and check for these signs that MCCC is working:
Welcome notification: You should see "Welcome to MC Command Center" in the top-right corner
Computer menu: Click any computer in the game — you should see "MC Command Center" as a menu option
Sim menu: Click on any sim — "MC Command Center" should appear in the pie menu
Not working? Check that both "Custom Content" and "Script Mods" are enabled in Game Options > Other. Also verify your folder structure is correct (only one subfolder deep).
How to Update MCCC
When a new version is released, follow these steps:
Delete all old .ts4script and .package files from Mods/MCCC
Keep the .cfg files — these store your settings:
mc_settings.cfg
mc_tuner.cfg
mc_dresser.cfg
Download the latest version from official sources
Extract and place new files into Mods/MCCC
Restart The Sims 4 completely
Your custom settings are preserved in the .cfg files across updates. You only lose settings if you delete these files or if a major update changes the settings format (rare).
How to Uninstall MCCC
To completely remove MCCC:
Close The Sims 4
Delete the entire MCCC folder from your Mods directory
Restart The Sims 4
Your saves will continue to work normally — you'll just lose the MCCC features. No permanent changes are made to your save files by MCCC.
Troubleshooting
MCCC doesn't appear in game menus
Verify "Script Mods Allowed" is enabled (Game Options > Other)
Check folder depth — MCCC must be at Mods/MCCC/, not deeper
Make sure you extracted the ZIP files (not just moved the ZIPs)
Restart the game fully (quit to desktop, not just main menu)
Antivirus blocks or deletes files
MCCC files are Python scripts, not executable programs
Add your Mods folder to your antivirus exclusion list
Re-download if files were quarantined
"Last Exception" notifications
These indicate a mod conflict or outdated mod — not necessarily MCCC
Update MCCC to the latest version matching your game patch
Check for conflicts with other mods by testing with only MCCC installed
